Year of the Horse 2026
Official Year of the Horse Lunar New Year Parade Route
The Sunderland Chinese Unicorn proudly presents the official walking parade route for the Year of the Horse Lunar New Year celebrations in Newcastle.
The parade will begin at Grey’s Monument before making its way through Newcastle City Centre and Chinatown, bringing traditional unicorn performances, cultural blessings, and festive energy to local businesses and the wider community.
A special headline performance will take place at Stowell Street Arch, where the team will perform in front of the Mayor of Newcastle.
Throughout the day, the parade will visit multiple locations across Chinatown for shop-to-shop performances, continuing a long-standing cultural tradition that symbolises prosperity, good fortune, and unity for the year ahead.
A special ceremonial moment will see the Unicorn team meet the Edmund Ng Choy Lee Fut Lion Team, representing harmony and collaboration within the community.
The parade will conclude with a final performance at NECA Chinatown.
